Who has the best chances at TI12?
It could not be a prediction article without starting with Gaimin Gladiators. They are by far the clear favourites for TI12, having come off the back of one of the most impressive seasons in Dota 2 history. Gaimin Gladiators won three majors, which only OG can beat, and two title events.
A close second has to go to previous champions Team Spirit. Team Spirit won TI10, and had a strong year last year, but started this season poorly. A mid-season suffle saw them begin to improve however, just in time for TI12! It certainly remains to be seen if they can continue this momentum, but recent performances suggest they are certainly one to look out for.
Perhaps tied with Team Spirit in our eyes are Team Liquid. Liquid also had a stellar year, but just could not find the formula to best Gaimin Gladiators. With Nisha joining at the start of the year, Team Liquid went from strength-to-strength, losing three Major finals, DreamLeague Season 19, and Riyadh Masters 2023. The consistency has been impressive, but do they have that extra X-factor to take the crown?
Who are the dark horses?
Looking towards dark horses, we have picked two teams to look out for. Firstly, Tundra Esports could make it far in TI12. Last years champions are always going to be in contention, but now they have added former two-time champion Topson to complement their roster. Topson remains one of the most skilled and polarizing players in Dota, but has the spark needed to turn games and championships.
Finally, Shopify Rebellion are certainly interesting. Perhaps the most frustrating team to support given their struggles and inconsistencies, they do have one of the most star-studded rosters at TI. They have also gained momentum, with multiple top 3 and top 4 finishes across the season, and have a wealth of experience to complement.
