Welcome to the TonyBet esports review where we discuss in detail the different components of the platform. We will go into detail on the various esports games they offer, the type of betting odds available and which esports markets there are. Of course, we will cover all the important information regarding how safe the platform is to use and whether TonyBet is a legit bookmaker.

Pros
  • Solid bonus offer
  • Reliable, safe and legitimate platform
  • Real money and cryptocurrency payment options available
Cons
  • UI is not optimal for browsing esports matches and markets
  • Takes odds feed from Sportradar which can have up-time limitations

Before we get into the midst of this TonyBet review, we felt it would be worth sharing some background information on this brand. The bookmaker was originally founded in 2003 as the brand OmniBet. After significant growth in its native country of Estonia, it was eventually bought out by the infamous professional poker player Antanas Guoga (Also known as Tony G) in 2009. In 2011 it was then rebranded to TonyBet which is a name that has stuck around since. Eventually the platform was sold to Betsson AB for close to €6 million in 2016. Now let’s get stuck into this review.

TonyBet Welcome Bonus Review

TonyBet introduces new customers very well to their platform by matching first time deposits 100% between €/$10 and €/$100. This is for any customer who is using their sportsbook, whether they bet on esports or traditional sports. While there is no special offer that is specific to esports, this welcome bonus will still cover you. For anyone who is a casino fan too, don’t worry you won’t be left out. There is also a first deposit bonus you can claim specifically for Casino rewards.

While you may want to rush and claim this bonus, do be cautious about the wagering conditions that you need to meet to claim this bonus. Terms and Conditions state that you must place bets with a stake totalling 5 times the initial qualifying bonus. You must make sure that the markets you bet on have odds of at least 1.5 on single bets and cumulative odds of 1.7 on multiples. See below for more key information:

  • Minimum qualifying deposit €/$10
  • Maximum qualifying deposit €/$100
  • 100% of your bonus will be awarded when you meet the turnover requirements (5x stake)
  • Turnover requirements must be met within 14 days of the initial qualifying deposit
  • Cryptocurrency accounts are illegible for this bonus offer

TonyBet Esports Games Available

This is the part of the review where TonyBet scores the least well on. The way they have their games arranged is quite disorganised and it is difficult to tell if any more niche games are likely to appear. This does appear to be a limitation of their sportsbook and how they display market categories, something they should resolve with either a third party vendor or some development work.

Games available:

It’s definitely a surprise to us to see that Valorant is not listed. Although this was reviewed shortly after VCT Champions 2023 where there were only a few lower tier competitive games available at other esports betting sites.

Esports Betting with TonyBet

While the games that are offered are already covered above, we will talk you through more of what the esports betting experience looks like with TonyBet. When navigating to their Sports Betting section, you will find different sport-types which include various game names. An example of their esports listing would be “ESport Counter-Strike“. This labelling is very bad for an esports audience, it’s not intuitive and does not show an awareness of the community they are offering these markets to. Other games they offer also use the same prefix.

Once you start engaging with tournaments and matches, you can find a neat list of markets. This is the most pleasant part of the journey. Although if you are familiar with more esports-focused betting operators, then you will quickly notice that there is a significant difference in the amount of markets offered. A strong list of different esports betting markets will be more important for an experience bettor, or someone who has a keen eye for specific specialised markets. However, for someone who is looking for a good welcome bonus and a platform to place bets on more mainline markets – it is quite satisfactory.

Sports Betting

This is an area that TonyBet excels more in. They have a lot of different traditional sports and offer a varied list of live markets for them. You will find a range of Basketball, Soccer, American Football, Tennis, Baseball and more.

Odds formats offered

TonyBet does a fantastic job with their odds formats. In total they have six different formats available to users. This really shows how global they are as a brand.

Odds formats available:

  • Decimal odds
  • American odds
  • Fractional odds
  • Malaysian odds
  • Indonesian odds
  • Hong Kong odds

TonyBet Desktop and Mobile UI Betting Review

Mobile View on TonyBet

The mobile app can be downloaded quite easily, you simply need to find the APK for Android or iOS via their website. The mobile view offered by TonyBet is slightly better than the desktop view. It is slightly clunky when loading occasionally, but you can find the markets more easily than you can via desktop. There is still a problem with the naming conventions for esports, but it is easier to look past when you see how neatly some of the stats are displayed.

Above you can see a variety of different mobile pages. This includes live markets for a CSGO match, prematch match page as well as what it is like to navigate a tournament. They have done a good job at adding stats for CSGO live games, it is definitely a surprise to see this here considering where it falls in other areas.

Desktop View on TonyBet

We had a lot of trouble initially understanding how TonyBet was going to list their games. As mentioned previously, the terms that they use for esports are not easy to understand if you are already a member of the community. However, once we managed to find the games – navigating became a lot easier.

Desktop Review of TonyBet 2

You can see that on desktop, they have a similar template to what they use for other sports. For instance, we are seeing the jersey colours when applied to CSGO. They are looking for a way to squeeze in esports markets and have not yet invested a lot into how this looks for the customer profile for an esports fan. Outside of this, TonyBet behaves as you would expect an established sportsbook to.

Languages Offered

TonyBet does have a decent amount of localisations available. This further reflects their customer-base and which markets they operate in. See below the full range of languages that you can select on their platform:

  • UK English
  • Canadian English

  • Chilean Spanish
  • Canadian French

Payment Methods

TonyBet offers a variety of different payment methods. Ranging from real currency through to cryptocurrency. This is through a set of different mediums, whether it is bank transfer, credit/debit card, E-Wallet or even voucher. It’s not as significant a list as other platforms, but it covers a strong broad range nonetheless. The deposit methods include the below:

  • Bank Transfer: Interac
  • Credit/Debit Cards: VISA and MasterCard

TonyBet Licences and Security Review

TonyBet is a licenced bookmaker which means that within the territories they operate in, they are a safe and reliable operator to bet with. As with every operator, we recommend that you avoid placing bets on any betting site that does not have a licence to operate in your country. It is must harder to get any recourse for problems you could be having if you are not meant to be placing bets from where you are.

Licences Held

The first licence acquired by TonyBet is the Estonian Licence. This is what has allowed them to start growing within certain European territories. Later on they acquired several more licences for countries including:

  • UK (UK Gambling Commission)
  • Spain
  • Canada
  • Australia (now inactive)
  • Netherlands (now inactive)
  • Portugal
  • Ireland
  • Latvia
  • Malta (Maltese Gaming Authority covers a variety of territories)

Despite some of these geographies no longer being licenced, TonyBet has made a concerted effort to be regulated in several territories. For a modern run-of-the-mill bookmaker this is unusual. A lot of betting platforms aim for a Curacao licence and often do not expand much further.

All-in-all, TonyBet has a strong list of licences and is not flagged by us at all for any security issues you may be concerned about. In particular, one of the very high value licences, is the one they hold in the UK. This is a certificate of prestige which showcases the efforts they take to be a reliable betting operator.

Customer Service

TonyBet offers a rich range of different communication outlets to reach their Customer Services department with. Different methods of service are available depending on where you are from. However you have several of the main ways to do it:

  • Email: info@tonybet.com / info@tonybet.co.uk
  • Live Chat: Available with the icon at the bottom right of their Sportsbook
  • Telephone: availability depending on where you are based

If you have a more urgent issue, it is recommended that you use their live chat feature. This should help you get any deposit or bonus related problems solved effectively.

TonyBet Esports Review Conclusion

While TonyBet is an established brand, it is difficult for us to provide the most premium rating due to the way they approach esports markets and games. It would be possible to give very strong marks if they gave the same attention to esports as they did to other more traditional sports. This is down to how esports is reflected in the UI as well as the markets that they offer.

With all that said, TonyBet is still a reputable platform with rich history. You can be sure to get a good experience betting here. And with more customers coming to the platform for esports, it is expected that they would invest more into their offering.
