After an incredible last several weeks of action, finally T1 win LoL Worlds 2023. This is an enormous comeback story for the global esports superstar, Faker, who has not won a World title since 2016. Regardless of the lack of recent World titles, he has been regarded as the League of Legends greatest of all time. Securing the League of Legends World Championship 2023 title has further cemented his legacy.

Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok is a name synonymous with League of Legends esports. In addition to taking the 2023 title, he manages to do it on home soil in South Korea. However, in the grand final T1 managed to win 3-0 versus Weibo Gaming. Weibo Gaming are a Chinese team who are ranked highly in LPL and still had strong support in the live audience.

Faker takes a fourth LoL Worlds title and help secure T1 victory

Faker is confirmed to be playing in the T1 roster through till 2025. Without him on the team, T1 seemed lost. There is a revitalised level of energy on T1 when Faker is playing. He played an enormous part in securing the team the title. The question at this point is whether he is considering retirement after his contract ends. He is currently 27 years old and will be entering the twilight years of pro-gaming when his contract is up in 2025.

Although Faker was absolutely essential for T1 to win LoL Worlds 2023. He couldn’t have done it without his team mates. Zeus played a colossal role by outmanoeuvring TheShy in each of the 3 games in the grand final. He won all the 1v1’s and managed to add significant pressure to Weibo Gaming.
