Roobet Cup 2023 - CS2 Esports Betting Insights

On the 25th October the Counter-Strike 2 tournament, Roobet Cup 2023, will begin. 16 teams have been invited to participate in this $250,000 USD prize pool esports tournament. It is hosted purely online and comes as an immediate follow-up from the recent IEM Sydney LAN. So if you are ready to continue betting on Counter-Strike then this event is coming at the right time!

What is the Roobet Cup 2023?

This is the second tournament hosted by Roobet which takes place from October 25th – November 2nd. It is a tournament played online and is designed to promote Roobet’s crypto casino. The last edition was hosted towards the end of 2022 and was ultimately won by BIG where they took home a prize of $150,000. The main differential is that in 2022 the tournament was played on CS:GO. In the Roobet Cup 2023 the teams will be playing on the recently released CS2.

This tournament will host 10 of the top 20 teams ranked on HLTV as well as several underdogs. Fascinatingly, seeing Team Complexity get top 2 in Sydney – it does make you believe that the rankings are going to mean less going into this event.

Which teams are attending Roobet Cup 2023?

There is a really exciting list of 16 teams who have been invited. Roobet have decided not to put on any direct qualifiers to their event. This is, again, reminiscent of their previous event. They seem to want to avoid disrupting the busy global esports event schedule and get everything done at once!

Teams participating:

  • 9INE
  • 9z Team
  • Apeks
  • Astralis
  • Aurora Gaming
  • BIG
  • Eternal Fire
  • Fnatic
  • FURIA Esports
  • Heroic
  • Monte
  • Movistar Riders
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • OG
  • Team Spirit
  • Virtus.pro

There are some really exciting story lines that can take place with these teams. One of the most interesting is the narrative behind Heroic. Heroic will be playing their first tournament without their IGL, Cadian, at the helm. Fans will be curious to see if Heroic have a good chance to make it far in the tournament with dupreeh acting as replacement.

Other teams such as FURIA, Astralis, Team Spirit and previous Roobet Cup winners BIG are in attendance. None of them played the IEM Sydney LAN already so it will be curious to see if any of these teams are well practiced on the new version of the game.

Roobet Cup 2023 Tournament Format

The cup is played across 2 stages over a period of 8 days. The finals will be played on a Tuesday which is unusual for large esports tournament. However, it looks like they are trying to avoid some of the clashes with the global events such as LoL Worlds and TI12.

Also Ninjas in Pyjamas would have expected to go further. The biggest surprise is Heroic who did not qualify to the playoffs. However, they have recently had enormous player changes within their squad.

Playoffs and Results

The playoffs will include 8 teams in total. This is going to be played as a single elimination bracket. That means that there are no second lives for any teams. If you lose your match then you are eliminated.

Every match in the playoffs of Roobet Cup 2023 will be a Bo3.

The champions of Roobet Cup 2023, Virtus.pro, managed to sweep through three teams in the playoffs to take home the $150,000 USD prize money. They took down OG, FURIA Esports and Monte. It is fascinating to see such a shake up in performance between different teams. This should make a big impact on over all HLTV rankings. However, this was an online tournament so you can only take some results with a pinch of salt. Despite this it is an excellent result for the all-Russian squad that is led by Jame.

What is the Roobet Cup 2023 prize pool?

Exactly like the 2022 edition, the Roobet Cup 2023 will host a $250,000 prize pool. It is going to split among the top 8 teams of the tournament. So the bottom 8 will receive no prize money at all. Take a look at the full distribution of the prizes below. All prizes are in US Dollar currency.

Betting on Roobet Cup 2023

There are a number of sites that will be accepting bets for this tournament. Expect all esports bookmakers to be creating odds. It will be interesting to see how many live betting markets are available given that CS2 is still quite new. Take a look at some of our preferred esports betting sites below if you are look for one to use. And make sure that you take advantage of the welcome bonus they are offering.

When it comes to betting on the actual games, this is very difficult to give advice at this stage. CS2 is so new still, and the information we gained from IEM Sydney tells us that there is a lot of volatility in team performance. This is no surprise since there are big changes to the game concerning round format as well as mechanical aspects surrounding smoke grenades. Favourites for us at EsportsCompare.net are likely to be FURIA Esports, Virtus.pro and Team Spirit. While Heroic has been a part of our favoured teams for this tournament. The recent news of Martin ‘stavn’ Lund and Jabok ‘jabbi’ Nygaard in Heroic being removed from active roster has confirmed to us that they cannot be a favourite any more.
