Pinnacle returns to CS:GO with Pinnacle Cup V for potentially the last time of the games lifecycle before it evolves on CS2. Will previous Pinnacle Cup attendees Astralis make it to the grand finals, or will they be cut off short by Swiss Stage victors 00Nation. Read on to find out.
What is the Pinnacle Cup V?
Pinnacle Cup V is the fifth in a series of online CS:GO tournaments that betting operator Pinnacle has put on. And it has just moved into the playoffs! Several top CS:GO teams are competing for a share of the tournament’s $50,000 prize pool. One of many events bookmaker Pinnacle has put on shows how committed they are to esports.
With powerhouses like Astralias, FURIA, OG and Bad News Eagles playing – it is sure to be an incredibly exciting end to the event. Pinnacle is one of many esports betting sites that is getting involved in creating tournaments. One difference is that Pinnacle is very much the site that has set the trend among other bookmakers.
Which teams qualified for Pinnacle Cup V playoffs?
There are a total of 12 teams who have made it to playoffs. The Pinnacle Cup format has meant that 4 teams have been invited directly to the playoffs, whereas others had to play through a swiss format.
Playoff Invited Teams
- Astralias
- Bad News Eagles
- FURIA Esports
- Monte
Teams Qualified to Playoffs
- OG
- EYEBALLERS
- ECSTATIC
- 00 Nation
- Espionage
- los kogutos
- Eternal Fire
- Aurora Gaming
It’s really exciting to have the top invited teams involved, this is going to prove a serious test versus the remaining qualified squads. It is particularly exciting to have 00Nation, especially after the recent announcement of their squad update. They are now playing with a full European line-up instead of their previously all Brazilian team.
Another exciting team is EYEBALLERS who have old Fnatic legends Flusha and JW as part of the team. The real question is whether this is going to be a walk in the park for the highly ranked Astralis team, or if someone else can dethrone the favourites.

What is the structure and format of Pinnacle Cup V?
Pinnacle likes to create a somewhat lengthy format for their CSGO events. This makes for a lot of matches, which is of, course, a benefit to a bookmaker who wants to create markets!
Phase 1 – Play-In Stage
The first stage is a qualification stage. There are 16 teams who fight it out in qualifiers where the 4 top teams make it to Phase 2.
Phase 2 – Swiss Stage
The 4 teams who qualified from stage 1 make it to a swiss format stage where they are up against 12 teams who have been invited. This is a great opportunity for somewhat lesser experienced teams to play against more highly ranked teams from HLTV.
Phase 3 – Playoff Stage
The final stage! If you manage to get through the swiss stage, you make it to play-offs. This is a single elimination bracket. Impressively los kogutos have made it all the way from the play-ins and are fighting their way to the top.
What is the schedule for Pinnacle Cup V?
We are now in the final week of play. All remaining Pinnacle Cup V matches will be played out. See the full playoff schedule below:
- Round 1: 21-22 August
- Quarterfinals: 23-24 August
- Semi finals: 25 August
- Grand Final: 26 August
Pinnacle Cup V finishes in dramatic fashion! 00Nation ends up taking the win over FURIA Esports with a 2-0 victory in the Grand Final. How did this happen when FURIA were favourites? It was later reported that KSCERATO had fallen ill with severe food poisoning. It became so bad that he, ultimately, had to be substituted by guerri for the 2nd map. This clearly had an impact on FURIA’s overall performance. Although this should not dampen the spirits of 00Nation too much. They have had an incredible tournament, also taking the win over Astralis 2-1. For 00Nation’s first tournament with the new squad, this is a great showing and should help them climb the ranks. They also get that juicy $30,000 prize for first.
How much is the Prize Pool for Pinnacle Cup V?
Pinnacle is putting up a solid $50,000 prize money for this event. This is very similar to what they have put up for the previous versions of the CS:GO events. See a stronger breakdown below.
- 1st: $30,000 [00Nation]
- 2nd: $10,000 [FURIA Esports]
- 3rd-4th: $5,000 [Astralis & Monte]
Where can I watch Pinnacle Cup V?
You can check out all the action on Pinnacle’s English Twitch stream!
Pinnacle likes to support the community as much as possible. They’ve done this by including community casters and supporting them through the different stages of the events. They will then give them the opportunity to commentate the larger matches later in the tournament instead of purely outsourcing to higher tier talent. This has led to a spotlight being shone brightly on upcoming talent in the scene!
Pinnacle have been putting up their own events since 2021 and are demonstrating why they are veterans of the esports betting scene. Many other bookmakers are following suit, and you can be sure that they will also be hosting betting markets and odds for all of these matches. If you want to place your bets, make sure you find yourself a solid bookmaker and take advantage of a welcome bonus to help build your chips.
If you are interested in following more Pinnacle events, we are pleased to confirm that there will be a Pinnacle Cup VI in October 2023.
