LCS SUMMER 2023: NEW DATES, SCHEDULE, ROSTERS AND MORE

As the dust settles from MSI 2023, the League of Legends scene is poised to jump back into action with the LCS Summer 2023. This event presents ten teams competing for North American supremacy and the coveted spots at Worlds.

However, the upcoming LCS Summer season has hit a snag. The LCS Players Association (LCSPA) has voiced strong favour for a walkout, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the proceedings. As a result, Riot Games has pushed the Summer split start date back by two weeks to June 15th. Should negotiations with the LCSPA fail, there is a contingency plan in place to cancel the Summer split entirely and remove the region’s spots at Worlds 2023.

A key highlight of this Summer Split is the return of NRG to the North American League of Legends scene after a seven-year hiatus, replacing CLG. NRG’s reentry sparks anticipation for the kind of success CLG experienced in the mid-2010s.

LCS SUMMER 2023: DATES AND SCHEDULE

The eight-week regular season will see the ten LCS teams facing off twice. Should the season proceed as planned, the top eight teams will advance to the LCS playoffs, with the highest-performing teams rewarded with favorable seeding. The LCS Championship is set to unfold at Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey, on August 19-20.

This Summer Split provides a gateway to the 2023 World Championship, with the top three teams securing their place at Worlds. The fourth-placed team will have an additional opportunity to qualify through the Worlds Wildcard Qualifier.

This summer promises a thrilling and unpredictable LCS season, with the hope of swift resolution between Riot and the LCSPA.

LCS SUMMER 2023: TEAMS AND ROSTERS

As the countdown to the start of LCS Summer 2023 continues, the composition of several teams remains a topic of intense speculation. For instance, Evil Geniuses are at the center of this speculation, having not announced their line-up following a comprehensive restructuring that left only Joseph ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun from the previous roster.

The spotlight is also on 100 Thieves, with fans keenly anticipating the performance of their new mid-laner, Lim ‘Quid’ Hyeon-seung. Quid, a product of the Gen.G academy, has considerable expectations to meet as he steps into the shoes of the retired Søren ‘Bjergsen’ Bjerg.

However, the changes at 100 Thieves do not stop there. The team has announced the return of top laner Kim ‘Ssumday’ Chan-ho, marking a shift from his stint with Evil Geniuses.

Another significant roster change comes from FlyQuest, who announced the addition of ex-Evil Geniuses player Philippe ‘Vulcan’ Laflamme to their starting line-up as support on May 19.

With these changes and many more yet to be announced, the teams and players participating in LCS Summer 2023 promise a summer filled with thrilling matches and unpredictable outcomes. Stay tuned as we provide updates on the full list of competing players and teams.
