Team Heroic Update - jabbi and stavn removed for internal drama

After October 4th 2023 it seemed like the big story was that Casper “cadiaN” Møller was simply parting ways from Heroic after minor disagreements. Shocking news has been released that indicates Martin “stavn” Lund and Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard had made alternative arrangements after ousting cadiaN from the team. The Heroic team update comes at a difficult time when they were due to participate in the Roobet Cup 2023 only minutes later.

As seen in the Tweet that has been embedded above. stavn and jabbi decided to start pushing cadiaN out of Heroic after the most recent ESL Pro League. Mediation efforts led to them being successful in doing so on the basis that they would imminently extend their contracts. Once they were presented with the new contracts, they revealed that they had planned to move to Astralis and no longer wanted to extend. This has sent shockwaves through the team as well as the Counter-Strike community. cadiaN was the pillar of the team and had led Heroic to enormous success over the previous 3 years.

Heroic have confirmed that there is 10 months remaining on stavn and jabbi’s contracts and that they will entertain trading them to other teams for a fair market value.

What will happen to Heroic after the latest team update?

While there are stand-ins helping them with the ongoing tournament, it is uncertain what is going to happen to the team. There are rumours that cadiaN is moving across to Team Liquid. It is potentially too late to bring him back into the organisation. A bigger team update is needed for Heroic. Losing 3 core players essentially means an entirely new squad, with unknown strengths and potential. This is one of the biggest tier 1 team changes in all of esports this year. A team that has been regularly at the top of CS2 now shaken to its core.

What is the current Heroic roster in October 2023?

While Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen has come into the team to replace cadiaN, there have had to be more stand-ins. Heroic have lent support from MOUZ NXT to have stand-ins for the Roobet Cup 2023. MOUZ NXT is the academy team of MOUZ. This puts even more uncertainty on the level that Heroic is likely to perform at the online tournament they are in.

Current squad:

  • René “TeSeS” Madsen
  • Rasmus “sjuush” Beck
  • Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen (temporary IGL)
  • Christopher “Chr1zN” Storgaard (stand-in from MOUZ NXT)
  • William “sirah” Kjærsgaard (stand-in from MOUZ NXT)

For people who are looking to place bets on Heroic in upcoming tournaments, it is best to be careful. Bookmakers are going to be cautious with the odds they apply to this team. It could potentially present an opportunity, but watch out for the efficacy of the team for now. This Heroic team update might present a larger shuffle across European Counter-Strike.
